In light of these figures, China\u2019s General Administration of Customs has issued new regulations to prevent the spread of the dengue virus into the country. These regulations, effective from October 9, 2024, will remain in place for six months.<\/p>\n
Passengers arriving from countries or regions experiencing dengue outbreaks will be subject to heightened health checks. Individuals displaying symptoms such as fever, headache, muscle and joint pain, skin rashes, or redness on the face, neck, and chest must\u00a0report to customs officers upon entry<\/strong>. Customs officials will\u00a0conduct medical assessments and, if necessary, sample testing\u00a0<\/strong>to confirm whether the individual is carrying the dengue virus.<\/p>\n Additionally, transport vehicles, containers, cargo, and other items arriving from dengue-affected regions must undergo\u00a0sanitary inspections<\/strong>. If mosquitoes or signs of infestation are detected, the items will be subjected to disinfection processes as required by Chinese law. Transport operators, shipping agents, and other parties involved in the import of goods are expected to fully cooperate with health inspection authorities.<\/p>\n Port operators have also been instructed to implement stringent measures to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds at entry points. This includes increasing monitoring of mosquito density and controlling their population at key entry points, all under the supervision of customs health officials.<\/p>\n This announcement will take effect on October 9, 2024, and will be valid for six months.
