Consequently, they stopped him for further investigation.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1219\" src=\"http:\/\/anychinavisa.com\/news\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Having-Visa-Valid-Until-XXX-Doesnt-Mean-You-Can-Stay-That-Long-300x223.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"223\" srcset=\"https:\/\/anychinavisa.com\/news\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Having-Visa-Valid-Until-XXX-Doesnt-Mean-You-Can-Stay-That-Long-300x223.png 300w, https:\/\/anychinavisa.com\/news\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Having-Visa-Valid-Until-XXX-Doesnt-Mean-You-Can-Stay-That-Long.png 763w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut my visa is<strong>\u00a0valid until 2025<\/strong>! How could I have overstayed? There must be a mistake!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tony looked at his visa, confused.<\/p>\n<section>\n<section>However, there was no mistake. Tony held\u00a0<strong>a multiple-entry visa valid until January 2025<\/strong>, allowing him to enter and exit China multiple times before the expiration date. But\u00a0<strong>each stay in China was limited to a maximum of 30 days per entry<\/strong>.Upon investigation, it was found that Tony had stayed in China for 32 days\u2014exceeding the permitted duration by two days, making him liable for illegal residence.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, the Yancheng Border Inspection Station issued Tony\u00a0<strong>an official warning<\/strong>\u00a0in accordance with the Exit and Entry Administration Law of the People&#8217;s Republic of China.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>How to Distinguish Between Visa Validity and Duration of Stay?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udd39 Visa Validity (Enter Before\/Expiry Date)<\/p>\n<p>This refers to the time frame during which a visa holder is allowed to enter China.<\/p>\n<p>Unless otherwise specified, a visa becomes valid from the date of issuance and expires at midnight Beijing time on the last valid day.<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udd39 Duration of Stay (Duration of Each Stay)<\/p>\n<p>This indicates the maximum number of days a traveler can stay in China per entry.<\/p>\n<p>It is counted from the day after entry into China.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Can Foreign Travelers Extend Their Duration of Stay?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Yes! If a foreign traveler needs to extend their permitted stay, they must:<\/p>\n<p>\u2705 Apply at least 7 days before the expiration of the current duration of stay.<br \/>\n\u2705 Submit the application to the exit-entry administration of the local public security bureau.<br \/>\n\u2705 Provide relevant supporting documents explaining the reason for the extension.<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udccc Important:<\/p>\n<p>If the extension request is approved, the new duration will be granted accordingly.<\/p>\n<p>If the request is denied, the traveler must leave China on time.<\/p>\n<p>The total extension period cannot exceed the originally permitted duration of stay on the visa.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<section>\n<section>\n<section><\/section>\n<\/section>\n<\/section>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<section><strong><em>Legal Reminder: Penalties for Overstaying in China<\/em><\/strong>According to Article 78 of the Exit and Entry Administration Law of the People&#8217;s Republic of China:<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udd34 Foreigners who illegally overstay may face:<\/p>\n<p>A warning for minor violations.<\/p>\n<p>A fine of RMB 500 per day of overstay (up to a maximum of RMB 10,000).<\/p>\n<p>Detention for 5 to 15 days in severe cases.<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udd34 If a minor under 16 years old overstays due to negligence by a guardian, the responsible person may receive:<\/p>\n<p>A warning<\/p>\n<p>A fine of up to RMB 1,000<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On\u00a0December 7, 2024, officers from the Yancheng Border Inspection Station of Jiangsu Border Inspection General Station discovered that a foreign traveler, Tony, preparing to leave China, had exceeded the permitted duration of stay under his visa.
