The visa application for foreigners departing from China to other countries is complicated. Here are some necessary procedures and precautions.

Type of visa.

China currently has single, double and multiple entry and exit visas. Before leaving the country, it is necessary to confirm whether the type of visa held allows multiple entry and exit. If you plan to return to China after the end of the trip, you must apply for a valid immigration procedure on the original visa or obtain a new entry visa. Of course, if you don’t plan to return to China in the future, then you need to worry about it.

Note: Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan are not included in the territory covered by the visa.

Pay attention to your nationality

Foreigners of different nationalities have different conditions and fees when applying for visas in different countries. Therefore, it is necessary to confirm whether the nationality of the person has the visa-free status of the exit destination before the trip or hold the corresponding passport. If you have dual citizenship, you can choose one of them to apply for a visa.

Materials you need

Usually, the materials for applying for a visa are as follows:

  • Visa application form
  • Passport or other identification document (valid for at least 6 months longer than your planned stay)
  • Personal photos
  • Proof of legal residence in China
  • Round-trip airfare and itinerary
  • Visa fee

Due to the different nationality and target country, the documents required for applying for a visa vary greatly. It is recommended to log in to the consulate website in advance to confirm the specific materials and requirements.

Application methods

  • On-site application: You need to bring the relevant materials to the local embassy or consulate in the country.
  • Mailing: If you do not have a consular institution in your place of residence, or you cannot handle it yourself, you can also send your ID and materials to the consulate by mail.
  • Online application: More and more countries, such as Australia, Thailand and Singapore, can provide online visa applications and e-visa.
  • Due to different nationalities and target countries, the application method will be limited. It is recommended to log in to the consulate website in advance to confirm the specific requirements.
