If you have plans to stay in China longer and your visa is about to expire, you can legally extend the stay time by switching to another visa. For short periods, you can choose a tourist visa (1 month) or a business visa (1-3 months). If you need a long-term stay, you can transfer to a work visa or an entrepreneurial visa.

  • If you need to transfer to a work visa:
  1. Have some work experience and find a job.
  2. Generally speaking, the working visa processing date is 22 working days (expedited 3-5 days), valid for 1 year.
  3. You can choose to bear the cost yourself or the company can bear the cost.
  • If you turn into an entrepreneurial visa:
  1. The entrepreneurial visa is for foreigners who want to start a business in China.
  2. This type of visa does not require you have already registered a company or found a job.
  3. This visa usually takes 7 working days and is valid for up to 2 years.
